Penguin Nutritional Warmer™

The Penguin Nutritional Warmer™ was developed by Jan Shields, a NICU nurse, to assist staff with effective and efficient milk warming, whether it be breastmilk or formula. Jan was frustrated by her inability to feed the babies in her care with consistently warmed milk. Her hospital’s practice of warming milk by placing it in a cup of hot water was very dependent on the temperature of the water coming out of the tap. Some days the water barely came out warm. Jan felt that the quality of her feedings were compromised by cold feeds.

With frustration fueling her creativity, Jan developed the prototype of what is now our Penguin Nutritional Warmer.
